The key person will provide nominal services to operational and future programs of the Realtime services and System Operations RSO division at EUMETSAT. Hisher duties will cover routine, nonroutine and contingency operations, operations evolution and preparation of data processing and product extraction systems for EUMETSATs Operations Data Processing OPSDP team. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Provide expertise in data processing operations of meteorological satellite systems. Contribute to technical meetings, scheduling, planning and coordination meetings. Participate in data processing team meetings, associated activities, reviews, Anomaly Review Boards ARB and Change Review Boards CRB where required in the area of data processing system operations. Contribute and participate on request to dedicated technical workshops. Undertake training identified as necessary to be able to better perform the service tasks. Become familiar and remain proficient with the data processing facilities usage, setup and configuration. Prepare and provide training, through written materials, practical demonstrations and presentations, to other parties including controllers, analysts and engineers. Liaise and coordinate as required with other Contractors and other teams working at EUMETSAT to ensure the continuity of mission operations and optimisation of the ground segment. Liaise and coordinate as requested with external engineering partners for contributing to the deployment of the data processing components, for anomaly investigation and reporting of issues that might affect those partners. Participate in the coordination meetings for engineering change proposals ECPs and projects as requested by the EUMETSAT Technical Officer. Participate in technical evolutions and implementations meetings for operational systems as requested. Provide Routine Operations services for the operational data processing and product extraction systems for all EUMETSAT Geostationary Earth Orbit GEO and Low Earth Orbit LEO missions. Provide services for the evolution of operational data processing and product extraction systems for all EUMETSAT GEO and LEO missions. Provide services for the Operations Preparation of data processing, product extraction systems, their offline functions and test tools for the future EUMETSAT GEO and LEO missions, e.g. MTG, EPSSG. Provide services for the commissioning of data processing and product extraction systems, for the future EUMETSAT GEO and LEO missions, e.g. MTG, EPSSG. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory University degree or equivalent in an engineering or scientific discipline relevant to the job profile e.g. atmospheric physics, remote sensing, meteorology or equivalent or proven experience in remote sensing and processing of data from relevant space borne instruments, preferably in an operational environment. At least 2 years experience in the realtime or near realtime acquisition, level0 processing, level1 processing and calibration processing of data from high datarates spaceborne imaging or sounding instruments of Earth Observation missions, preferably in an operational environment. Minimum 2 years experience in the operations of complex data processing or product extraction systems, and experience of verification and validation of such systems. At least two years experience with UNIX Linux systems preferably in an operational environment. Very good strengths in analysis, synthesis and presentation skills. Very good interpersonal, communication and reporting skills and an ability to apply these to the interactions within a team and between teams in a multidisciplinary context. Ability to learn and develop the needed skills and knowledge to contribute to the operations of the service, including the ability to rapidly absorb, and make use of, information presented in written and oral communications in a dynamic context. Ability to maintain a systematic approach to work, in order to cope with tight schedules and multiple tasks. Ability to work effectively under pressure and to manage complex tasks with minimum supervision. Capability to write accurate, concise, focused and consistent technical documentation and reports. Willingness to provide 24 hours a day oncall support, including during weekends and public holidays on a regular basis. Fluency in English, both written and spoken. The following skills would be highly desirable Experience with or significant knowledge of some of the following Algorithm specification, development, or validation for scientific, meteorological or other remote sensing missions. Quality control, satellite instrument calibration and IVV. Spacecraft or ground segment operations. Relevant technical standards e.g. ECSS, CCSDS, OGC. Data types e.g. AHRPT, BUFR, GRIB, HDF, HRIT, NetCDF. Knowledge of relational Databases and database management systems e.g. Oracle, PostgreSQL, MariaDB.
