Polyester prices have stayed very stable in the past days, as China was very slowly returning to work. Prices have been frozen for weeks by lunar year holidays and they are not expected sharply moving in the coming period. A fall of PTA and MEG prices could however depress polyester prices. Our weekly report covers the Polyester Staple Fiber (PSF) on the domestic markets in China, India, and Pakistan. Polyester filament prices in China are also released, whereas the report includes a price comparison of polyester with cotton and viscose in China.

Viscose prices have stayed frozen in the past weeks in China, being still in holiday mood in the current period. VSF prices have confirmed their decline in 2018 after they have begun to drop by early 2017, as reflected by our 5-year chart. Our weekly report covers the viscose/rayon staple fiber and filament markets over the last 12 months. Viscose spun yarn prices in China, India and Pakistan are also available. Cotton linter, cotton pulp and wood pulp prices on domestic and import markets are being tracked over the last 12 months, in addition.

Polyester Fiber & Yarn Price Comparison: China vs. India and Pakistan (Monthly Report)

Profit margins have slightly risen in the last month for polyester spun yarn producers in China, India and Pakistan. The fall of PSF prices has improved the yarn/fiber spread in India whereas yarn prices have increased in Pakistan. New trends are however now emerging in the three countries. Our monthly report compares polyester staple fiber and polyester spun yarn prices in China, India and Pakistan, in both local currency terms and US$ terms. Gross margins of spinners are also calculated on a monthly basis. Historical data back to 2007 are available for download.

Polyester chain prices have stayed frozen in the past week over celebrations of the new lunar year in China and elsewhere. Prices were this Monday firm on the paraxylene market but new signs of a slowing down global economy could depress PTA and MEG market prices in the coming period. Our weekly report covers the polyester chain in Asia, including PX (paraxylene), PTA (purified terephthalic acid), MEG (mono-ethylene glycol), polyester chips, and polyester staple and filament prices.
