Polyester fiber prices have continued falling in China and India in December whereas staying firm in local currency terms in Pakistan. Gross margins have moved in opposite directions in China and India, however, whereas remaining frozen in Pakistan. The rebound of crude oil prices in the past days could further change the market trends and the way margins are moving at spinning mills. Our monthly report compares polyester staple fiber and polyester spun yarn prices in China, India and Pakistan, in both local currency terms and US$ terms. Polyester Chain Prices: PX, PTA, MEG and Fiber Prices (Weekly Report)

Polyester intermediate prices are now bottoming out in the Far East, in line with a sharp rebound of crude oil prices in the last week. Demand is however not expected sharply recovering from polyester fiber producers, meaning that any rally of the polyester chain prices could be limited in both scope and time. Our weekly report covers the polyester chain in Asia, including PX (paraxylene), PTA (purified terephthalic acid), MEG (mono-ethylene glycol), polyester chips, and polyester staple and filament prices.
