Far from stabilizing, polyester fiber prices could now decline to lower levels in line with a sharp fall of intermediate prices this week in China. Demand is being lowered all over the polyester pipeline, as processors try limiting their stocks ahead of a full trade war between US and China. Viscose fiber prices have further declined in the last seven days in China, but could now stabilize after inventories have been eventually reduced at spinning mills. Polyester Chain Prices: PX, PTA, MEG and Fiber Prices (Weekly Report)

Polyester chain prices have eventually bottomed out in the last days, over a rebound of crude oil prices and a reduction of operating rates at a series of PTA, MEG and polyester fiber plants in the Far East, including China. Demand remains however very depressed from downward processors due to poor seasonal trends and a lower economic growth in China. Our weekly report covers the polyester chain in Asia, including PX (paraxylene), PTA (purified terephthalic acid), MEG (mono-ethylene glycol), polyester chips, and polyester staple and filament prices. Textile Fiber Price Comparison (Monthly Report)

Textile fiber prices are now falling on the international and domestic markets. The overall drop has been triggered by a very sharp decline of polyester prices in China, followed by viscose in the past two weeks. Cotton prices are less dramatically declining, whereas wool has tumbled from its peak levels of the past summer. Acrylic fibers have until now resisted whatever the free fall of acrylonitrile. Our tables and charts offer a 12-month price comparison of most used textile fibers, including cotton, polyester, viscose, wool, acrylic and nylon, all being available for download on a weekly basis through our historical csv file.
