Polyester staple fiber prices have begun significantly declining in the last seven days in China whereas filament yarn prices were even plunging in the meantime. The 10% fall of PTA prices in only two weeks could result in additional price reductions in the coming period whereas processors will maintain inventories at minimum levels. Polyester fiber prices have begun sharply falling in China, over a dramatic decline of PTA prices in the past two weeks. Market participants are expecting prices could further drop and have refrained from replenishing their stocks. Prices are still far above their initial level four months ago, before they have suddenly started surging.
