Polyester intermediate prices have stopped rising in the Far East, over a weaker seasonal demand than expected. The recent surge of prices has resulted in lower sales than usual in this part of the year. Prices could now stabilize or fall to lower levels, depending on the ability of spinners and weavers to pass their higher costs on to their customers. Our weekly report covers the polyester chain in Asia, including PX (paraxylene), PTA (purified terephthalic acid), MEG (mono-ethylene glycol), polyester chips, and polyester staple and filament prices.
