Polyester staple fiber and filament yarn prices have begun tumbling in China after PTA prices have plunged in the last seven days. Production has stopped at many textile plants, although it is supposed to rebound in this part of the year. The high level of price volatility is deeply disturbing the market. PTA prices have this Monday plunged in China, over a lack of demand and whatever the fall of operating rates at PTA plants. Textile production has actually been reduced by the surge of raw material costs. Demand could however rebound over strong seasonal trends, once polyester fiber prices will have returned to lower levels, as a clear sign that price volatility could stay for weeks.
