Polyester Fiber Prices in China, India and Pakistan (Weekly Report)

Polyester fiber prices have further surged in the last seven days in China and Pakistan triggering a new increase of spun polyester prices. PTA prices have continued surging but could now stop rising, which would mean the end of the polyester rally and a possible fall of fiber prices in September. The polyester chain is experiencing a very fast and sharp increase of prices in China after PTA producers have dramatically raised their offers in the last four weeks. Downward fiber, spun yarn and filament fabric producers are however confronted with a fall of their margins which could end in a sharp drop of demand for polyester intermediates and a sudden decline of prices in the polyester chain. Our weekly report covers the polyester chain in Asia, including PX (paraxylene), PTA (purified terephthalic acid), MEG (mono-ethylene glycol), polyester chips, and polyester staple and filament prices.
