Team Leader, Spacecraft Operations Luxembourg Betzdorf Your Job The Team Leader, Spacecraft Operations is responsible for the health and day to day operations of a fleet of spacecraft and lead a team of Spacecraft Controllers. This recruitment is headcount neutral and must come from inside the SOC team. Your Responsibilities Lead a team of Spacecraft Controllers Provide support to the Manager of the Controller Teams to manage the Betzdorf Satellite Control Center Responsible for the day to day flight operations activities of the SES satellites Organize and support a 247 operational environment Provide a satellite fleet operational capability of the highest quality for customers Ensure the Satellite Control Center is continuously fully operational and coordinate activities in consequence Support to coordinate the availability and use of a diverse worldwide network of operational resources Help ensuring availability of required operational procedures and policies Work closely with all ground and space groups Help to continuously improve the safety, performance and efficiency of operations. Identify satellite operational risks to achieve goals, actively work to eliminate, reduce and mitigate their effects Ensure that your direct reports document any unexpected issue that has arisen at the console during their shift Effectively manage and support the Controller Teams to fulfil their daily operations tasks and personal objectives, especially focus on delivery and outcomes Help driving the SOC architecture to an agile work environment Make sure all peers comply with SES Culture and foster team spirit. Have constructive and explanatory talks and pass positive and motivational messages. Report any kind of soft skills misbehaviour to management Take ownership of your objectives. You are responsible for your Teams performance. Foster your direct reports ownership of their objectives. Escalate in case of objections Your Experience Qualifications Technicalengineering degree in electronics, aeronautics or equivalent qualifications A high level of competency in satellite operations at least 5 years experience Experience as controller and be certifiedaccredited would be a key advantage Good knowledge and understanding of spacecraft and spacecraft operations Good understanding of computer, baseband and RF equipment associated with a TTC facility Experience in and understand the operations of a satellite and its subsystems in detail Have a working understanding of orbital mechanics Ability to manage and motivate people A demonstrated ability to work across organizational boundaries High operational awareness Analytical skills Ability to work without direct supervision Effective communicator with good written and oral reporting skills and excellent interpersonal skills Display an ability and interest to continuously learn Keep a calm head in a stressful situation Objective, rational and multidisciplinary thinking Courage to act upon convictions A high degree of integrity Provide immediate and candid feedback, especially on any observed misbehaviour affecting team spirit or satellite operations Ability to face up to problems quickly and take action Act within her or his circle of competence and know the boundary Whats in it for you? The satellites have just launched from French Guyana. You are in the Galileo Control Room with a full project team. Everyone is now sitting on the edge of their seats. You are manning the consoles managing the entire Galileo Control Segment, one of the biggest satellite ground segments in the world with a global reach. Everyone is waiting for you. Suddenly, rows of data stream across your screen. A quick check to confirm everything is on track. You then announce over the voice loop, All stations, we have Acquisition of Signal. This is just a small glimpse into the life of a Ground Operations Engineer at Galileo. With the Galileo constellation continuing to develop and grow, you will become part of a multinational team which will operate and provide engineering support for the Galileo Control Segment. This will include routine activities to support 26 satellites currently in orbit, preparation and execution for the next Galileo satellite launches and upgrade of the system to enhance the Galileo services. You will be primarily based in Germany but the activities will also include a chance to work at our sister Control Centre in Italy.
