Main responsibilities The position is offered as a fixedterm contract until 2021. We are looking for a Remote Sensing Operations Engineer for joining the Sentinels Data Hub Operations Team. The job holder will be part of the Sentinels Data Hub Team as Operations engineer. Heshe will be involved in monitoring and maintaining the Sentinels Rolling Archive data dissemination Service. The service provides Sentinel1, Sentinel2, Sentinel3 and Sentinel5P products to end users according to the levels of service agreed with the European Space Agency. Main tasks are support the review andor preparation of the documentation relevant to the indexing and storage of the main products metadata in the DHuS archives scientifically meaningful to endusers. Support testing and verification activities. Execute regular maintenance activities. Support the configuration control and definition of the network interfaces. Execution of Transfer to Operations of service applications e.g. DHuS. Realtime monitoring and control of the endtoend product publication chains. Management of service incidents and anomalies. Generation and maintenance of Operational Procedures and work instructions. Linux Shell scripting for operational incidents management. Interfacing with other groups software development teams, PDGS teams, Copernicus SCI team, Network and Security team. Support the update of web contents e.g. user guides, news publication, service web portals. Support to the help desk for replying to operational engineering issues. Extraction of service statistics and generation of weekly, monthly and quarterly Operational Reports and Service Performance Reports. IT Service Infrastructure housekeeping. Support Oncall operational activities. Ideal candidate For this position the ideal candidate should have the following skills and experience Good knowledge in Linux Operating Systems e.g. RedHat Very Good Knowledge of Linux shell scripting. Good Knowledge of Database Management Systems e.g. MySQL, Postgres. Good Knowledge of Apache. Knowledge of Earth Observation satellite data product formats. Knowledge of remote sensing algorithms. Experience in system administration. Knowledge of Copernicus Data Access Project. Ability to work in a team and to share and acquire knowledge. Proactive problem solving attitude. Fluency in English written and spoken. Good knowledge of French written and spoken. We need an engineer to define and implement system and contingency operations procedures so that we can successfully deliver our services The Role We are looking for an engineer with experience of ground segment systems operations and upgrades, preferably in Earth Observation systems, in a 247 operational environment. This is a challenging role as you will coordinate the definition, processing and implementation of modifications to operational ground systems and its infrastructure, including control and engineering rooms across Europe. Location ESOC, Darmstadt, Germany Description Spacecraft Operations Engineer in the Euclid Spacecraft Operations Unit, Astronomy and Fundamental Physics Missions Division, Mission Operations Department, Directorate of Operations. Duties The postholder will initially be assigned to the Euclid Flight Control Team as Operations Engineer and will report to the Euclid Spacecraft Operations Manager SOM. Tasks will include assisting the SOM with preparing and executing Euclid operations, including nominal and extended routine and endofmission phases performing the Acting SOM role when so delegated assisting the SOM with Operations Ground Segment OGS evolution and validation, including internalexternal interfaces defining, preparing and executing ground segment validation tests, including acceptance, system validation and ground segment system testing for any upgrades planning and execution of routine, special and contingency recovery operations, including mission planning, reporting, anomaly investigation and resolution analysing and reporting spacecraft and ground segment longterm performance interfacing with mission management and Science Ground Segment for related activities interfacing with the EUCLID Project Team, ESA specialists and industry regarding technical matters, including changes to spacecraft design and operations documentation interfacing with other ESOC Divisions regarding spacecraft operations and ground segment technical matters providing support to other missions delegated to the Division, including GAIA, PLATO and future astronomy and fundamental physics missions as required providing support to corporate ESA and ESOC activities as required.
