Position Reference 908 We are currently looking for a Spacecraft Operations Engineer to work at our clients premises in the city of Darmstadt, Germany. The key person will support the Data Handling Subsystem with focus on PUS services and Onboard Control procedures maintenance, operational support to instruments and spacecraft performance analysis. The Spacecraft Operations Engineer may also be requested to assume the responsibility and perform activities for additional subsystems or systems within the scope of general SOE services, including test, validation and operation of the Mission Control System, Mission Planning System and Simulator. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Operations Supervision. Anomaly Handling. Mission Planning Tools, MIB and FOP Maintenance. Validation and Deployment of Ground Systems updates. Management and coordination of internal mission interfaces. Spacecraft Performance Analysis and Reporting. Phase Execution Eclipses Ops, Flyby, Remote Sensing Windows, etc.. OnBoard Software Maintenance Support Service. Engineering Model Maintenance. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory University degree in a relevant discipline. Spacecraft subsystem knowledge AOCSDHOBSMPower ThermalTTCPayload. Coordination and interaction with other service providers in operations, and with other entities such as PI teams or Science Ground Segment. Machine learning experience. Experience in scripting programming. Fluency in English, both written and spoken. The following skills would be highly desirable Familiarity with the ESOC environment. Familiarity with satellite control systems, in particular SCOS2000. Familiarity with operational simulators, especially the ones based on SimSat. Familiarity with deep space missions operations. The job holder will manage System and Ground Segment engineering and development activities led by the Agency in its role of EGNSS Exploitation Manager EGNOS and Galileo and in the frame of the GOVSATCOM Programme. Depending on hisher assignment, the Systems Manager of the Systems in Operations will report to the respective Head of Department. TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES The jobholder will have the following main tasks and responsibilities Manage the system and segment infrastructure evolutions activities Coordinate the specification and development follow up of improvements to the system in operations implemented by industrial contracts Lead the system engineering processes for managing requirements through the lifecycle of the system and ground segments Coordinate the technical analysis of the specifications and design the major evolutions of the system and ground segments, in order to verify coherence and compatibility with the system in exploitation, and identify impacts on baseline technical documentation Coordinate the definition of an overall system Integration and Verification IV Programme, ensuring consistency between system and segments verification but also between verification and validation activities Manage the establishment of system upgrades deploymentmigration plan, consistent with service continuity needs Monitor the qualification status, and follow up on anomalies resolution through the implementation of Work Arounds, fast fixes and midtermlongterm corrections Maintain the qualification status, assessing any changes with respect to the impact on system qualification Verify that the system upgrades are under configuration control prior to the handover to the operations team Coordinate the Agency contribution to the development of the Galileo Second Generation from the system and infrastructure point of view, performed by the European Space Agency Represent the Agency in the relevant boards as necessary including but not limited to Change Control Boards, Qualification Review Board, Acceptance Review Board Liaise with other internal stakeholders, as well as with external partners such as the European Commission, the European Space Agency, the Service Operator, the Products manufacturers and maintainers Support the Agency management as needed and take on additional tasks as required in the interest of the service. The position is situated in Prague, Czech Republic with regular missions within Europe and possible detachment to other Agency sites. The team, located in the ESOC Network Operations Centre, provides support using a variety of computer and network hardware and software. The NOC acts as the first point of contact for users, missionsprojects and second line support teams. As NOC Network Operations Center Technician you will concentrate your activities on the following Liaise with spacecraft and mission operations engineers as well as staff on duty at other support units, ground stations and external Agencies to establish and continuously maintain a comprehensive overview on the availability of and the demand for utilization of resources provided by the ground segment facilities. Supervise and coordinate scheduled support activities. Monitor the progress of station configurations for satellite passes through voice coordination or remote monitoring systems. Schedule Ground Stations and OCC facilities in realtime outside normal working hours. Configure and monitor station configurations for satellite passes as well as data transmissions and performance. Respond immediately to any anomaly affecting operations relevant procedures shall be initiated and 1st line maintenance activities executed as required in order to restore operations. Document and track anomalies, call out 2nd3rd party supportescalate and followup on incident resolution. Reporting and documentation. Act as first line of contact for users of critical systems. Provide 1st line computer and network support to all eligible users including incident, problem, change request and user requestcomplaints handling. Actively monitor all operational IT systems, applications and networks and react immediately on potential issues or outages by Logging and escalating incident tickets according to procedure Identify the impacted servicesusers and inform all relevant parties Initiate incident resolution or mitigating actions to restore the service asap Call outescalate to 2nd line support or external providers according to procedure Followup on incident resolutionprogress and inform interested parties of the status Prioritise work according to criticality of systems, schedules and targets. Operation, fault finding and repair on the network and on active network components CISCO using Ethernet and TCPIP protocols and by logging oncommanding active network components. In line with procedures perform contingency and scheduled reconfigurations, hardware and software maintenance, test and remedial activity, so as to minimise resource impact.
