We are looking for an experienced Satellite Operations Engineer to support the routine operations of the Sentinel 3A satellite and support the preparation of the Sentinel 3B launch, LEOP and routine operations. The engineer will become a core member of the operations team. This position is on customer side at EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany. ResponsibilitiesDuties Become responsible for the principal tasks of the topography instrument radar, microwave radiometer, etc and provide backup support to the optical instruments and the platform. Maintain the corresponding operations documentation and flight procedures. Perform trending and performance analysis on the corresponding subsystems and instruments. Investigate into satellite anomalies. Participate in satellite oncall support rota. Identify and support the implementation of system and process improvements concerning the spacecraft operations team responsibilities. Support the systems and operations preparation of Sentinel 3 C and D satellites. Support the system and operations preparation of other LEO satellites. QualificationsExperience University or similar degree At least 5 years of experience working as a Satellite Operations Engineer preferably with LEO satellites Experience in the operations preparation and routine operations of satellite mission control systems for LEO satellite systems Experience in the operation and development of satellite ground segment facilities. Several years of experience with SCOS2000 Essential Skills Experience in the specification of system and operational concepts. Good understanding of VBA. Familiarity with OnBoard Control Procedures and OnBoard Position Scheduler concepts. Desirable Skills Familiarity with synthetic aperture radar SAR. Familiarity with Python and Simsat based simulators. The activities will focus on ensuring that MTG operations preparation is brought to a suitable level for the transition of the programme into routine operations. Alongside a university degree or equivalent in a technical discipline you will be required to have at least three years of work experience in operations, operation preparation and configuration of endtoend monitoring and reporting systems for complex satellite Earth Observation ground segments. You will be involved in the definition development, integration and verification validation of ground segment and mission data monitoring systems. Also you will be required to have experience in in the operational definition of Earth Observation data processing, its configuration and its validation, as well as the offline and online analysis of instrument data processing and the methods used for its analysis. Recent experience of some of the following skills would be a distinct advantage experience in high data rate, multichannel, end to end science data processing systems operational procedure and test plan development and validation for 2417 GEO satellite systems experience in reading, testing and developing software routines and scripts particularly for Linux operating systems familiarity with user interface development with respect to operation and instrument data processing experience in development of XML, the automation of its development, and its use experience in DOORS or similar requirement tracking tools experience in the configuration management of complex operational systems. These activities have generated an opportunity for a Data Services Operations Engineer to join our Additional Data Services Team. In this role you will conduct and coordinate the Data Services routine operations and support the future evolution of the EUMETSAT Additional Data Services systems, using data originating from our partners and service providers. You will also coordinate the operations of EUMETSATs network of SLBand Regional Services receiving stations known as EARS. You will be involved with the planning and will coordinate the daytoday activities of EARS and Additional Data Services with the EUMETSAT operations team. Additionally you will analyse the operations and performance of the systems, raising anomaly reports and proposing solutions and evolutions where necessary. Your role will also include the preparation of training material and conducting training for the engineers, analysts and controllers teams.
