This role will focus on the ground stations supporting EUMETSATs low Earth orbiting LEO satellites EPS, EPSSG and JCS but the engineer will also be expected to support the geostationary orbit GEO stations when required. Key Responsibilities Longterm planning and shortterm scheduling of the operational usage of the ground stations to support both the needs of the Flight Operations Division FLO and Ground Stations engineering team Interface with project teams for the implementation of system upgrades to support major operations projects and major activities described in the Operational System MidTerm Evolution Plan. This will include ground station changes required to support major space segment evolutions Interfacing with the ground stations maintenance teams and industry representatives to ensure optimised performance by the ground stations, including participating in the definition, specification and implementation of any changes Planning and coordination of upgrades, repairs and evolutions with the engineering teams and FLO division Organising the validation of these upgrades, repairs and evolutions with the Controller Teams Definition and maintenance of ground station operations procedures and operations guides Maintaining operational ground stations databases Investigation into anomalies, their documentation, classification and correctionmitigation, participation in associated Anomaly Review Boards Provision of training, through production and presentation of written materials, practical demonstrations and presentations, to other members of the Operations Department The role will require good communications skills, to allow the effective communication of information under a variety of circumstances. The Key Person should be used to working proactively within team and being able to work with the minimum of supervision. The variety of the tasks and the scope and complexity of the systems to be supported require a high degree of autonomy and good analytical skills. The tasks assigned to the Key Person will be agreed through dedicated workpackages with clear identification of activities and outputs expected. During critical operational periods or following major maintenance upgrades, the engineer will also be required to provide on call support as part of a team of ground station engineers. In the performance of these tasks, the Key Person shall apply the EUMETSAT configuration and change control procedures as well as the relevant system engineering standards, quality management procedures and maintenance procedures. Requirements In addition to having a university degree in a relevant technical discipline or the equivalent ground stations experience, the Key Person shall have the following mandatory attributes at least five years experience in ground stations TTC operations in support of multiple Low Earth Orbit LEO andor Geostationary GEO spacecraft at least five years experience in a realtime 247 spacecraft operations environment, ideally in an earth observation environment excellent interpersonal and coordination skills Experience of the following would be a distinct advantage major upgrades or evolutions of operational ground stations defining and implementing the verification and validation of ground stations interfaces between ground stations and ground segments firstline hardware and software failure diagnosis and correction baseband operation and configuration While the official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French, the working language for the position is English and therefore the Key Person must be able to work effectively in this language.
