Job description EGNOS European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service is the European Satellite Based Augmentation Service that provides services based on the GPS navigation signals as well as enhanced accuracy and integrity information. EGNOS is being evolved to support future needs, with the next evolution, EGNOS V3, providing dualfrequency signals on L1 and L5 bands and augmenting both GPS and Galileo constellations as part of the MultiConstellations Regional System MRS concept. The evolution is under the technical responsibility of ESA. ESA is now looking for a data systems engineer with relevant experience to support the Agency in the evolution of EGNOS, and specifically, to support software and system engineering activities of the EGNOS V3 MCS in Toulouse, France. Responsibilities Typical activities to be undertaken are Provide technical reporting of EGNOS V3 MCS activities to the ESAESOC Technical Responsible. Support and coordinate with the ESAESTEC V3 MCS Engineer. Support the definition of the Phase CD Statement of Work for the 3 EGNOS V3 MCS and assessment of resulting industry technical proposals. Follow industrial contractor MCS specifications and design activities Participate to key project milestones such as Key Points, CDR, QR, etc. RID authoring, panel report contribution, etc. Participate to HMIMMI definition and mockup activities Interface with the Product Assurance and Security responsible groups as necessary Organise the EGNOS V3 MCS coordination meetings Interface between EGNOS project and V3 MCS industrial contractor. Interface and coordinate V3 MCS industrial contractor for the management of anomalies and changes in the MCS infrastructure. In particular this includes supporting the onsite Anomaly Review and Change Control Boards. Liaise and coordinate with European GNSS Agency GSA for operations coordination and Operational Concept consolidation Coordinate understanding of the Operational Concept, main concepts underlying the Monitoring and Control design, FDIR and Alarm concept, Masking and Alarm Acknowledgement concept Monitoring V3 MCS activities with respect to agreed plans and schedules, and report on any issues. Participate in the testing and validation of the various deliveries. Support acceptance of the deliverables received from industry, ensuring correctness, completeness and compliance to the applicable requirements Support research and development activities in the area of back end infrastructure data systems. This is a fulltime position with a planned starting date in May 2016. You will be nominally based at ESAs facilities in Toulouse, France, after a 1 month phasein period at ESOC. Qualifications Competencies Essential skills are Good working knowledge of ground systems backend infrastructure data systems Good EGNOS MC system knowledge Good ground control segment knowledge Familiarity with system and software development and testing principles Ability to understand and accurately predict behavior of complex systems Familiarity with programming scripting languages e.g. C, Java, JavaScript, shell scripting Capability to interact with users in a customer oriented manner. This include 1st and 2nd line support. Wellorganised, able to prioritise and manage several activities in parallel Fluent oral and written English The following experience would be an additional asset Experience working with operational missions, and particular previous experience with Galileo Familiarity with the ESOC working environment, procedures and Quality Management System QMS Ability to report accurately Experience in software and system design methodologies Familiarity with effective teamwork principles and team building aspects A proactive attitude towards problem solving and the ability to achieve solutions as required.
