For the location in Darmstadt Germany we are looking for a Data Systems Engineer Mission Control System Tasks The successful Candidate will be initially fully dedicated to the Sentinels MCS Engineering support, however it should not be excluded that at a later stage tasks related to the Sentinels Simulators Engineering support may be included. For both of these Mission data systems, the service includes Specification of the software requirements of these systems in collaboration with the operational users Definition and specification of their internal and external interfaces in agreement with the relevant parties Acceptance of the deliverables received from industry, ensuring correctness, completeness and compliance to the applicable requirements Support to the mission operations staff as required in the various operational phases, including System Validation Tests, simulation campaign and in software support coordination as part of the Flight Control Team during critical operational phases such as launches Coordination with other internal ESOC or external units, e.g. with the unit supplying mission data systems infrastructure and with the unit supplying the ICT systems and services Participation in research and development activities in the area of mission data systems Participation in the testing and validation of the various infrastructure elements used by the Sentinels MDS as well as definition of the future evolution of these systems Collaboration with other missions to ensure crossmission consistency and harmonization between Sentinel and other missions MDS systems, spinin from other missions into the Sentinel MDS and spinout from the Sentinel system to future systems including, but not limited to, future Sentinel missions Essential requirements Good knowledge of Mission Control Systems for Earth Observation satellites and the EO MCS Kernel Experience as Software Support for Earth Observation Missions including prelaunch activities and launch campaigns of satellites Familiarity with MICONYS and in particular extensive knowledge in the operational deployment of external systems EDDS, GFTS, DARC Ability to understand and accurately predict behaviour of complex systems Familiarity with programmingscripting languages e.g. C, Java, JavaScript, shell scripting Capability to interact with users in a customer oriented manner.
