For the location in Darmstadt Germany we are looking for a Ground Segment Quality Assurance Engineer fm Tasks The Engineer will be part of the EUMETSAT Meteosat Third Generation MTG QA Team, which is providing support to the Geostationary Satellite Programmes GEO Division. The activities will be mainly focussed in the implementation of QA processes in support of the MTG Team activities connected to Definition and maintenance of the requirements baseline Procurement development, integration, verification, validation and acceptance of the MTG GS Facilities and associated elements Integration, validation and commissioning of the MTG GS The specific tasks will include Implement EUMETSAT QA policies in the assigned areas, in accordance with the MTG System QA plan and all relevant applicable Standards and Procedures Support the GS QA Engineer in the establishment and recording of metrics to measure the effectiveness of the main processes within MTG Ground Segment activities Provide proactive suggestions for process improvement, based on these metrics and other observations Ensure that the MTG QA and MTG GS processes and connected working practices and procedures are available, adequate, maintained updated and correctly implemented in the MTG documentation and relevant activities, with particular reference to the documentation relevant to the Ground Segment Facilities Work with and in support of the MTG Ground Segment Teams and its Members, in order to ensure that Quality Assurance policies and methods are taken into account during all GS lifecycle phases Provide dedicated support for QA disciplines to the production and release of the technical and programmatic documentation relevant to the MTG Programme, MTG GS and its facilities and elements Critically review and comment the technical and management documentation issued in support to the MTG GS Facilities procurement Support, acting as Review secretary, the formal project Reviews and Check Points, ensuring that the relevant applicable Procedures and methods are correctly implemented Support the MTG GS Facilities procurement activities and the connected processes, in line with the applicable QA documentation and requirements After the selection of the GS Facilities successful bidders, support QA activities during the Facilities development and production process, interfacing with the EUMETSAT Technical Officers, the relevant crossdivisional Teams and with the Industry PAQA counterparts in order to fulfil the targets identified through the assigned work packages Ensure implementation of the agreed QA Plans and procedures within the Industry activities, including Subtiers Support the preparation and conduct of QA audits on Industry and within EUMETSAT in the areas connected with MTG GS activities, in line with the MTG GS ContractorsSuppliers Quality Assurance Audit Plan Provide advice on any critical issue arising on the ongoing GEO programmes activities Provide regular reporting to the MTG GS QA Engineer and to the GEO QA Team Leader on all aspects related to MTG GS QA activities Attend and support the weekly MTG QA Team coordination meetings Essential requirements A University degree in Engineering, Physics, Computer Sciences or a related discipline is required together with a relevant work experience in the Quality Assurance area. Specific experience on QA on satellite Ground Segments and on data processing field will be considered an advantage. Work experience and skills matured on highly complex systems and products HWSW in advanced technology sectors will also be considered. In particular, the Engineer shall demonstrate the mandatory specific skills as follows Significant handson experience in QA processes definition, implementation, monitoring and control, Knowledge and application experience on international QAPA standards, specific knowledge of aerospacespace standards is considered a plus Direct experience in providing QA support to procurement contracts for complex products, Experience in providing QA support to SW products throughout their complete development lifecycle, specifically on data processing and science products development Experience on HWSW products integration Significant handson experience in using Microsoft Office Suite and in particular with Microsoft Word, Excel and Access Capability of understanding complex concepts in the area of data processing and data analysis and its implementation through specific software architecture Desirable requirements Knowledge of PAQA relevant standards eg. EO Calibration Quality Control Engineer Optical Instruments SCJ 2775 Summary A great opportunity for an experienced engineer to join an existing team supporting the calibration, data processing and quality control of optical Earth Observation data, with particular focus on the ATSR series of instruments. Background A range of roles within the team are envisaged including detailed studies into the calibration of specific instruments, management of routine QC and calval activities and the development and testing of new data processing software. Support is particularly required for ATSR Calibration StudyThis is a researchstyle project, the aim of which is to explore and verify the calibration of the SWIR channel across all three ATSR instruments and looking forward to the SLSTR instrument using accepted community standards, for both nadir and forward viewing geometries, by Conducting a literature review to establish current best practice in SWIR calibration and approaches used for the ATSR instruments so far. Researching possible reference data sets that could be used for the verification. One particular goal is to compare ATSR SWIR data with an additional CEOS reference site httpcalvalportal.ceos.orgceoslandnetsites. Other possibilities include techniques using cloud targets and sunglint. Conducting an intercomparison interrogating the ATSR data, comparing to the reference data and reporting results. If appropriate, making recommendations for changes to the relevant data processing algorithms for ATSR12 and AATSR or defining a postprocessing correction, in an Algorithm Theoretical Basis Document ATBD. Prototyping any newrevised processing software routines. Support to the Upgrade of ATSR Processing This is preparatory work for the 4th reprocessing of ATSR data to ensure a smooth transition towards the Sentinel3 mission and products.
