Senior Satellite Operations FD Engineer

JOB PURPOSE ROLE Responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining satellite and ground operations procedures for EshailSat Fleet as well as Flight Dynamics operations. Mentors Satellite Operations Engineers when needed. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Description Key Performance Indicators GENERAL Policies and Procedures Support the definition of the Concept of Operations CONOPS Maintain Flight Ground Operations Procedures for the SCC and Ground TTC subsystem. Design, develop and ensure implementation of processes and procedures related to satellite and payload operations, fault and event management, data management and COMSEC operations. Support Definition of Internal Business Processes and Maintain them Maintain and update the contingency business processes related to satellite operations. Business Processes Procedures Readiness Operations Project Planning and Implementation Contribute to the Satellites Project team development to ensure operation requirements are taken into account and consequently fulfilled. Support the development, launch and inorbit testing of new satellites. Participating in the development of software tools, methods and procedures to improve testing and measurement capabilities. Testing and assessing the viabilitycompatibility of new systems and equipment. Participating in the identification and assessment of new technologies. RIDs delivered to the Project Team BEFORE LAUNCH Team Selection Support the recruitment of Satellite Controllers and Satellite Operations Engineers by participating at the selection process Participation to Selection Interview processes Operation Planning Formulation Ensure readiness of the Satellite and Ground Operations procedures Ensure readiness of Flight Dynamics operations Effective, accurate, efficient, and timely implementation of the business processes and procedures. Offline Activities Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports to the management, Perform trend analysis and Generate Satellite Health Reports on a monthly basis, Weekly Monthly management reports Communication and Coordination Monitor and report all failures associated with the satellites performance Work closely with Satellite Operations Manager on Flight Dynamics aspects and Anomaly Management. Coordinate with CMC Requests and IOT Campaigns Effectively communicating with various departments in the company Effectively communicating with satellite manufacturer inorbit support team Disaster Recovery Define a Disaster Recovery Plan for Operations including but not limited to Training requirements for the teams, recovery scenarios Disaster Recovery Plan AFTER LAUNCH Operation Planning Formulation Ensure readiness of the Satellite and Ground Operations procedures Ensure readiness of Flight Dynamics operations Define and prepare Payload IOT campaigns in coordination with Network Operations Department Effective, accurate, efficient, and timely implementation of the business processes and procedures. IOT plans Satellite InOrbit Operations Support all critical operations, Perform trend analysis and anomaly resolution for satellite operations, Support Satellite Controllers during Manoeuvers and other critical operations, Perform internal audits to check if procedures and processes are followed by Satellite Controllers Oncall support during outside normal business hours on a rotation basis once every 5 weeks in average, Full compliance with the Satellite Operations Procedures, Processes and Policies. Proper management of any satellite system anomalies. Monthly audit. Offline Activities Prepare ranging Campaigns Prepare Flight Dynamics operations for Station Keeping manoeuvers Coordinate with Satellite Manufacturer for anomalies Generate Anomaly Reports for InFlight Ground Anomalies, Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports to the management, Perform trend analysis and Generate Satellite Health Reports on a monthly basis, Provide Continuous training to Satellite Controllers and other team members as required. Effective, accurate, and timely implementation of the ranging campaigns. SKM manoeuvers readiness Closure of Anomaly Reports. Weekly Monthly management reports Health monthly reports Communication and Coordination Monitor and report all failures associated with the satellites performance Work closely with Satellite Operations Manager on Flight Dynamics aspects and Anomaly Management. Coordinate with CMC Requests and IOT Campaigns Effectively communicating with various departments in the company Effectively communicating with satellite manufacturer inorbit support team Whole of Life Continuous Training Provide intense training programs for Spacecraft Controllers as required Training development and delivery QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS Minimum Qualifications BSc in Aerospace Engineering Master Preferred Minimum Experience 7 years or more of experience in Satellite Operations JobSpecific Skills Problem solving skills, Satellite Platform and Payload Engineering deep understanding, Knowledge of Flight Dynamics Operations and Preparation, Knowledge of AOCS, Thermal Subsystem, TCR, Data Handling, Power Supply, Telecommunication Payload, COMSEC. Knowledge of DS2000 from MELCO will be a plus, Knowledge of a Satellite Monitoring and Control system Epoch suite will be a plus, Knowledge of AOSYS will be a plus, Strong communication and interpersonal skills, Proficiency of English language.

JOB PURPOSE ROLE Responsible for the management of the satellite controller team to ensure efficient, effective and continuous 24x7 operations of the Satellite Control Centre SCC and TTC Ground Stations. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Description Key Performance Indicators GENERAL Policies and Procedures Support the definition of the Concept of Operations CONOPS and maintain them. Support the development of Flight Ground Operating Procedures for the SCC and ground TTC subsystem and ensure they are continuously maintained and improved. Support definition and ensure implementation of contingency business processes related to satellite and ground operations. Support the definition of Standby and OnCall policies and maintain them CONOPS readiness updates Effective communication of policies and procedures. Compliance with procedural and legal requirements and company policies. People Management Directly manage a team of 6 Satellite controllers. Supervises the work of the satellite controllers and provides leadership and guidance. Frequency of feedback and appraisal meetings. Employees turnover rate. BEFORE LAUNCH Team Selection Support the recruitment of Satellite Operators and Satellite Operations Engineers. Ensure capability building is undertaken and operators are certified to carry out operation requirements. Ensure training needs analysis is done to identify the teams needs Recruitment performed by end of 2015 Controllers readiness for Satellite Manufacturer Training Project Planning and Implementation Contribute to the Satellites Project team development to ensure operations requirements are taken into account and consequently fulfilled, Attend and contribute to Satellite Project Reviews and Meetings related to Satellite Operations. RIDs delivered to the Project Team Training Ensure readiness and proficiency of the Satellite controller team for the operational phase, Develop and manage the PreTraining of the Spacecraft Controllers, Play the role of training coordinator for EshailSat Satellite Operations Department, Attend Manufacturers training, Ensure readiness and availability of the Spacecraft Controllers to follow the manufacturers training, Support the Certification of Spacecraft Controllers with EshailSat Management and the Satellite Manufacturer. Effective, accurate, efficient, costeffective, and timely implementation of the training plan. Satellite Operations Team training achieved successfully AFTER LAUNCH Satellite InOrbit Operations Manage the inorbit operations, Control, Flight Dynamics and SCC hardware, software and systems are conducted as per approved procedures and requirement. Oversee the synthesis of satellite telemetry data and performing diagnostic tests on satellite platform and payload components. Perform trend analysis and anomaly resolution for satellite operations Full compliance with the Satellite Standard Operating Procedures, Processes and Policies. Proper management of any satellite system anomalies. Proper and efficient use of software tools, enhancing departments overall efficiency. Offline Activities Manage the InFlight Anomalies Database, Generate operational reports according to company processes. Effective, accurate, and timely implementation of the maintenance plan. Day to Day Operations Oversee the teams daytoday operations and work to increase operating efficiency and capabilities, Manage the satellite controllers shift plan, Make sure the Satellite Controllers follow Processes and Procedures, Manage the daytoday Shift Handover Logbook. Oncall support during outside normal business hours on a rotation basis once every 5 weeks in average, Daily targets are achieved. No shortage in resources and minimal downtime registered. Internal customer feedback. Shift Handover Logbook maintained and updated Communication and Coordination Monitor and report all failures associated with the satellites performance, Coordinate Corrective and Preventive Maintenance activities with the Maintenance Team, Coordinate with Satellite Operations Engineers on Flight Dynamics aspects and Anomaly Management, Review and maintain Handover Shift Logbook, Effective communication with various departments in the company Whole of Life Continuous Training Disaster Plan Prepare and Maintain the Disaster Recovery Plan, In coordination with Satellite Operations Engineers. Organize training program using DSS to ensure continuous readiness of Spacecraft Controllers so that quick and responsible response can be applied according to the approved contingency recovery procedures in case of satellite anomalies Effective, accurate, and timely implementation of the Disaster Recovery Plan for satellite operations Spacecraft Controller success rate during continuous training program People Management Prepare, maintain and update Shift Planning including Standby and OnCall aspects, Supervise the work of the satellite controllers and provides leadership and guidance, Take up judicious allocation of responsibility and monitors Spacecraft Controller performance. Updated shift plan QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS Minimum Qualifications BS in Aerospace Engineering or Equivalent Minimum Experience 10 years or more of experience in Satellite Operations with 5 years directly managing a satellite controller teams JobSpecific Skills Problem solving skills, Satellite Platform and Payload Engineering deep understanding, Knowledge of AOCS, Thermal Subsystem, TCR, Data Handling, Power Supply, Telecommunication Payload, COMSEC. Japan's KDDI divests stake in satellite firm Inmarsat for 840p per share

Japanese telecommunications group KDDI Corporation has sold its entire 4.85 percent stake in satellite communications company Inmarsat for 840 pence per share, the company said on Tuesday. Reuters reported on Monday that KDDI was planning to sell its holding in London-listed Inmarsat.
