Job description For our customer, ESOC in Darmstadt, Germany, we are seeking for a Satellite OPSSAT Experiment Infrastructure Engineer. As a flying laboratory, ESAs OPSSAT will test and validate new techniques in mission control and onboard systems. Responsibilities The primary areas of responsibility for this role are the creation, documenting, testing and validation of the OPSSAT Experiment infrastructure. The general activities are Study of the OPSSAT specific onboard system on module SoM including all hardware and software interfaces with special attention to the Cyclone V FPGA Support creating the infrastructure required to support OPSSAT Experimenters using the SoM effectively, with special attention on how to integrate experiments into the Cyclone V FPGA. Production of the technical documentation and procedures Production of the training documentation Production of the necessary onboard infrastructure in terms of software and VHDL code to be used as a standard template for OPSSAT experimenters Production of the necessary ground infrastructure to test and validate experiments on the ground before loading to the spacecraft Production of some example experiments to prove the concept and to use as guides for OPSSAT experimenters Participation in the System Validation Tests SVT Programme Participation in the inflight commissioning operations General Support in Experimenter coordination and technical support General Flight Control Support Service This is a fulltime position to be located at ESOCs premises in Darmstadt with the planned start date 1st April 2019. Delivery of database versions to the users according to schedule requirements, including documentation and interfaces with users. Postdelivery support to users during CSW validation and AIT phases. Database NonConformance and Change Request management. Database validation in accordance with the verification plan definition of validation requirements and needs, followup of validation, consolidation of validation results. Participation in database technical meetings and users meetings The work will be coordinated with the customer Functional Validation Database Manager. In addition, it may be required to contribute to operations preparations activities such as development and maintenance of Flight Operations Procedures and FDIR procedures. Qualifications Competencies We are searching for an experienced Support Engineer with Assembly Integration and Test AIT and or industrial experience as operator in functional validation with a minimum 3 years experience in the space industry. Applicants shall have preferably a University degree in the domain of Telecommunications, Electronics, Systems, or Aerospace Engineering or other suitable equivalent qualification. Mandatory skills Programming skills, ideally knowledge in Java language, ORACLE. Knowledge of typical spacecraft verification approaches and of the spacecraft subsystems under test.
