Description The primary areas of responsibility for this position are the Data Handling. On EarthCARE, this includes the On Board Computer, including the Remote Interface Unit and the Mass Memory and Formatting Unit, together with their application softwares. In addition the candidate will provide support to other subsytems engineers in the team with respect to units which contain embedded software. The candidate may be requested to assume the responsibility and perform activities for additional subsystems or systems as defined by the SOM or Division Head. Other areas of responsibility specific to EarthCARE are Validation, test and operation of the Mission Control System MCS Setup, validation, test and operation of the OBSM systems Validation and test of the Data Handling Subsystem of the Simulator Profile The candidate should have the following qualities Essential University or similar degree in engineering or physics. Spacecraft subsystem knowledge, preferably for Data Handling Experience in activities applicable to spacecraft operations Fluency in English, both in speech and writing Teamplayer Selfstarter, able to work independently with little supervision Desirable ECSS Packet Utilisation Standard knowledge Familiarity with the ESOC environment Familiarity with satellite control systems, in particular SCOS2000 Some experience dealing with external interfaces Familiarity with operational simulators, especially the ones based on SimSat Familiarity with low Earth orbit satellites The candidate should be able to multitask efficiently working on multiple activities, multiple subsystems and if applicable multiple missions simultaneously.
