Sentinel1 Payload and Mission Planning Spacecraft Operations Engineer

For our activities in ESOC, we are currently seeking a Payload and Mission Planning Spacecraft Operations Engineer for Sentinel1. Tasks The primary areas of responsibility for this position are the CBand SAR instrument and the Optical Communications Payload OCP but the candidate may be requested to assume the responsibility and perform activities for additional subsystems or systems within the scope of general SOE services. Other areas of responsibility specific to Sentinel1 are Validation, test and operation of the MCS Mission Planning System the definition of the Mission Planning interface with PDGS Inorbit commissioning Responsible for the SAR and OCP NDIU PSS validation, test and operation LEOP support Responsible for Payloads, Power, Thermal and Deployables. Qualifications and Requirements Applicants require a degree in aerospace engineering or equivalent. Essential Spacecraft subsystem knowledge, preferably for SAR instruments or similar payloads Experience in activities applicable to spacecraft operations Fluency in English, both in speech and writing Coordinate and interact with other service providers in operations and other fields Able to work independently Ability to understand and accurately predict behaviour of complex systems Wellorganised, able to prioritise and manage several activities in parallel Familiarity with operational training. Desirable Familiarity with the ESOC environment Familiarity with satellite control systems, in particular SCOS2000 Some experience dealing with external interfaces Familiarity with operational simulators, especially the ones based on SimSat Familiarity with low Earth orbit satellites Familiarity with Operational Payloads Experience in operational training Familiarity with the ESOC working environment and Quality Management System QMS Knowledge of satellite or ground operations, or nonspace operational environments Experience with prelaunch activities and launch campaigns of satellites Mission Planning expertise Power Thermal expertise. The ability to multitask efficiently working on multiple activities, multiple subsystems and if applicable multiple missions simultaneously. RHEA is currently recruiting a Spacecraft Operations Engineer assigned to Sentinel1 but with the possibility of supporting other missions within the Earth Observation Missions Division. This position is based at our clients premises in Darmstadt, Germany. This vacancy note concerns an onsite consulting position at ESOC in Darmstadt, Germany. SEOSAT Spacecraft Operations Engineer 1312103 Job Description The position is for a Spacecraft Operations Engineer as part of the SEOSATIngenio Flight Control Team supporting the SOM during the prelaunch, LEOP and commissioning phases in the preparation of the operational products, in particular the Operational DB and the Flight Operations Procedures and timelines SVT preparation and execution Mission Control System validation simulator validation training and Simulations LEOP Commissioning preparation and execution The SEOSATIngenio team being of a reduced size and the ESOC involvement finishing at the end of the commissioning phase, the SOE is expected to be flexible enough to take tasks for different subsystems. In particular the selected candidate must be able to take care of the Data Handling operations preparation, and help in the production of the procedures and SVT test cases for other subsystems. The execution of the work might require periods at the Routine Phase Control Centre, located in Madrid. This is expected to be the case for some of the SVTs, and during part of the commissioning phase. A close collaboration with the Routine Phase ground segment contractor and operator will also be required. In addition to the tasks on SEOSATIngenio, assistance for other missions in preparation by the division could be required by the SOM for the same type of activities. In particular, due to the commonality between the SEOSATIngenio and the Sentinel5 Precursor satellites, and the similar schedule, the assigned person will be requested to support as well the preparation activities for that mission.
