Terma Terma Space operates out of Denmark, The Netherlands, Germany, France and the UK. Job description For our customer, ESOC in Darmstadt, Germany, we are seeking for a Flight Dynamics Operations Engineer with the primary areas of responsibility being Test and Validation for Science Missions. Additionally, you may be requested to assume the responsibility and perform activities for other missions and activities within the scope of general Flight Dynamics operations engineering. Primary activities are related to JUICE however potentially also related to EUCLID and CLUSTERII. Responsibilities The general activities are Test and Validation Execution of and support to operational tasks Validation of operational Flight Dynamics products, such as command parameter sets, reports, event predictions and acquisition data before delivery to FCT and other users Flight Dynamics Application Layer Maintenance of elements of the Flight Dynamics Application Layer Flight Dynamics System Development Specification of modifications, enhancements and additions to existing software elements Implementation of modifications, enhancements and additions to existing software elements Installation of modifications, enhancements and additions to existing software elements on operational platforms design, coordination and implementation of tests Participation in tests Setup procedures Flight Dynamics SubSystem configuration Coordination of internal and external interfaces and actitivities across subsystems General Flight Dynamics operations engineering activities This is a fulltime position to be located at ESOCs premises in Darmstadt with the planned start date as soon as possible but not later than 1st November 2019. Approx. 400 hours per year of oncall and 1 European mission per year are foreseen. Qualifications Competencies In addition to having a university degree in a relevant engineering field, astronomy, mathematics or physics, you shall have following knowledge Essential skills are Skills to apply their knowledge to develop solutions to technical mathematical and dynamical problems in cooperation with customers and other experts Ability to define, implement, validate and operate software which applies the above solutions using e.g. Unix andor Linux scripting languages, Fortran 77 andor 95, C Will to take operational responsibility in multidiscipline teams Fluency in English, both in speech and writing Coordinate and interact with other service providers in operations and other fields Ability to work independently Desirable skills are Familiarity with the ESOC environment Familiarityexperience with Flight Dynamics operations engineering tasks Experience dealing with external interfaces Experience with OracleSolaris andor Linux, network services and protocols, and system administration The ability to multitask efficiently working on multiple activities, multiple subsystems and if applicable multiple missions simultaneously. Overview The Technology Coordination and Frequency Management Section is responsible for two main tasks. First, the identification of technology requirements for future Earth Observation missions. A solid collaboration with the other divisions in the EO directorate and ESAs technical directorate is essential for this work. The nature of the work requires a wide knowledge in engineering disciplines with a natural inclination for learning and understanding new technologies. Second, the analysis and monitoring of the evolution of frequency needs for EO missions, including early concepts and potential interference conflicts with other communication services sharing the spectrum. Specific qualification requirements The Candidate shall have a university degree masters in Engineering or physics with relevant background and experience in space projects and associated technology developments. The Candidate should ideally have several years of experience in the development of advanced technologies preferably for space applications. Knowledge of techniques used in Earth Observation missions. Background in satellite system and subsystem technologies. Good interpersonal Skills. Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team within the boundaries of assigned tasks and a stringent schedule. Proficient in the English Language Spoken and Written. Legal and Security Requirements All applicants must be legally allowed to work in The Netherlands Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate.
