The Consultant shall support the exploitation of the Sentinel3 marine data in respect to a growing community of users, in particular through the provision of information, management of training activities and engagement with user groups in coordination with the delegated entity responsible for the Copernicus Marine Environment Monitoring Service. The consultant will be part of the training team and will work with experts across EUMETSAT and partners organisations. RESPONSIBILITIESDUTIES The main tasks of the consultant, within the marine domain, are Identify and regularly update the relevant user organizations, their for and possible intermediaries on the sentinel3 marine mission and the marine data stream. Provide regular information to users and user groups on the status of the mission and the related marine and ocean products and service. Analyse and handle related user enquiries and user requests received via the EUMETSAT Helpdesk. Review the framework for user communications activities with respect to the Sentinel 3 mission and related marine and ocean products and services. Support the development of the relationships with key users and subject matter experts and facilitate feedback on the quality of the products and services provided. Establish the training requirements, develop and deliver a plan to meet those requirements, evaluate the effectiveness of the training and resources delivered. Identify and engage relevant and skilled subject matter experts to support user training. Maintenance and update of relevant user documentation e.g. user guides, etc. Maintain contact with the Copernicus Marine Environment Monitoring Service user engagement processes as required. QUALIFICATIONSEXPERIENCE In addition to having postgraduate MSc level training I education or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience the Consultant shall meet the following essential criteria Significant experience of the management of training from needs assessment to evaluation of training for user groups. Experience in using satellite data in marine research or operations An ability to relate to user groups and subject matter experts Appreciation of the whole chain from data sensing to user application of a product. Experience of maintaining sources of information for users. Experience of working in partnership across organisational boundaries. This will be demonstrated through at least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in relevant disciplines. Furthermore, it would be a distinct advantage for the Consultant to have experience with Distance learning methodologies. A range of earth Observational Data visualisation tools. A range of learning technologies learning management systems, web conferencing tools etc. Understanding the processes used to retrieve marine geophysical parameters in one or more of elements of the sentinel product suite. The Consultant shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, shall be able to work calmly and correctly under stress and must be able to work with the minimum of supervision. Fluency in English is mandatory and a working knowledge of French would be a significant advantage. Responsibilities The Flight Dynamics Consultant will support activities at the site to work on tasks such as Support operation of the near real time NRT Precise Orbit Determination POD software embedded inside the GRAS instrument operational product processing facility Support the design, implementation, testing and operational validation of new versions of the operational NRT POD software Maintenance and evolution of an offline POD environment Compare operational NRT POD performance with results from the offline POD environment to identify potential improvements in the operational software Monitor the performances of the GRAS support network, providing NRT solutions for the GPS constellation. MTG MC System Test Coordinator Ref. No. 158980 mf The Mission Meteosat Third Generation MTG is EUMETSATs latest programme for meteorological satellite services using geostationary spacecraft. The complete MTG Ground Segment is currently being established in the frame of Phase CDE1 of the MTP Programme. Part of the Ground Segment includes the system supporting Monitor and Control functions for the MTG satellites. The Challenge We are looking for an experienced systems engineer to provide consultancy support to EUMETSAT for coordinating the system level testing of the Monitor and Control functions of the EUMETSAT MTG ground segment, providing engineering and testing support to the MTG Verification and Validation Team Leader. You will contribute to all phases of the IVV programmes planning, execution and control, and closeout. The key duties will be the preparation, execution coordination including results analyses of the MTG MC Chain system VV tests. You will also support the complete MTG system IVV testing, including support to the System Validation Tests and Operational Scenario Validation. You will work in close coordination with Operations Preparation Team and Ground Segment Teams. The tasks of the System MC test coordinator key person will typically include the following Incrementally develop and maintain System MC Test Specification, test cases from the highlevel definition contained in System VV Plans Design, the Operations Concept and the status of definition of the associated test tools Participate to system satellite simulator and test tools acceptance tests Preparation and the execution of the MTG System Validation Tests with successive MTG satellite models for the verification of the associated requirements Plan for, coordinate, prioritise and lead the execution of the System MC Tests Generate test reports, verification records, substantiate associated anomaliesnon compliances, and perform postanalysis of the test results Contribute to Test Readiness, Test Review Boards and Anomaly Review Boards Support dryrun and formal execution of the Operational Scenarios Validation tests This is a fulltime position located at EUMETSATs premises in Darmstadt, Germany with a planned starting date in July 2015.
