A vacancy for a System Engineer Navigation GNSS Performance Analysis mf has arisen within Airbus Defence Space in MunichOttobrunn. The successful applicant will join TSPED11 EGNOS Programmes. Airbus Defence Space is deeply involved in the system support activities for ESA for the implementation, verification, and operation of the European satellite navigation system Galileo, and in design and development activities for the satellitebased augmentation system EGNOS. In this position, you will support the development and implementation of EGNOS V3. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include Supporting system simulation, performance evaluation and performance verification Determining system state probabilities analysis of availability of system elements Developing and implementing software for performance analysis Assessing budget derivations for error contribution to GNSS signals ODTS errors, troposphere, ionosphere including scintillations as input to service volume analyses and raw data generator Performing troubleshooting and anomaly investigation Defining procedures for data evaluation Contributing to the consolidation of the system level design and definition including corresponding documentation and engineering tools Presenting results to the customer and at conferences We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Educated to degree level in Geodesy, Mathematics, Physics or equivalent Several years of experience in the field of engineering and with Information Systems Extensive experience in satellite systems and segment engineering as well as in integration, verification and operation of large ground systems Experience in standard engineering software e.g. Doors and XSDXML, Modaf, Matlab, basic knowledge in C and C Detailed theoretical and practical knowledge of satellitebased Navigation Systems GPS, EGNOS, GLONASS Sound knowledge and understanding of error contributions to GNSS signals ODTS errors, ionosphere including scintillations, troposphere Indepth understanding of data dissemination flow and navigation message generation and processing as well as of GNSS end user constraints and GNSS applications Autonomous style of working as well as the ability to analyse complex technical problems Fluent German and English skills intermediate French skills would be an advantage Please apply on line for this vacancy on line at our careers site www.jobs.airbusgroup.com with your CV attached. RESPONSIBILITIESDUTIES In the context of the ISS Exploitation programme, ESA has setup the ERASMUS Support Facility ESF which includes support capabilities to operations MSO, ERA, GS operations coordination room, Public Relations interface and the security infrastructure PKI, Secured DMS, etc.. Under the supervision of the Head of the Columbus Ground Segment Maintenance and Operations Section, the successful candidate will be required to fulfil the following tasks Maintenance and troubleshooting of ESF capabilities, in relation with relevant external procurements organizations. The improvement of the level of service is one of the goals of this task. In the context of the MPCC ground node and Class3 payloads network based on the internet protocol, the successful candidate shall, in relation with the relevant industrial contractors, plan, coordinate and validate the necessary ground implementations between ground users and the onboard LAN The successful candidate shall coordinate security implementations, audits and risk assessments in relation with the Security Control Board. In this capacity, the successful candidate shall participate to the ESA Security Control board SCB and other boards when relevant. The successful candidate shall produce and update at regular intervals an ESF CIDL. Heshe shall also produce an evolution plan and relevant ECRs to adapt and ensure continuity and availability of the ESF The successful candidate will conduct necessary validation tests and issue ESF validation reports. The successful candidate shall be responsible for definition IP addressing schemes and IP stack configuration definitions for users of Class3 PLs ground and board. The successful candidate shall produce validations plans and validation reports for the Class3 PL users ground implementations. RESPONSIBILITIESDUTIES In the context of the ISS Exploitation programme, a dedicated Ground Segment has been delivered to support the ACES PL ACES Atomics Clock in Space Ensemble. The Ground Segment is centred on CADMOS a CNES facility for PL support, but has many external interfaces and includes its own science data processing capability. The Ground Segment is also the converging element between 3 separate contracts. Under the supervision of the Head of the Columbus Ground Segment Maintenance and Operations Section, the successful candidate will be required to fulfil the following tasks Technical coordination between the 3 contracts to achieve integration, readiness of the GS for operations, External interfaces coordination the successful candidate will be expected to coordinate, in cooperation with CADMOS, the finalisation and updates of external ICDs and Service Level Agreements Supervision of AIV activities at CADMOS acting as ESA coordinator for all technical matters Sustainability of the GS definition and oversight of maintenance implementation for the ACES GS system, the network of MWL GTs, and external interfaces Change management several changes will be made to the system during 2015 and 2016 which shall be coordinated and supervised. In particular the successful candidate shall coordinate the acceptance of the science data processing capabilities and coordinate with the ESA ACES IWG for this purpose Security coordinate with the ESA Security Control Board SCB and CADMOS for matters of GS security implementation and processes The successful candidate will also attend the various boards or working groups in particular the ACES JWG as needed. The successful candidate will submit a monthly report on the ACES GS activities. Change management deliverables shall include proposals for ECRs or modifications of configurations and validation reports of the changed GS capabilities. In liaison with the ACES PIM and CADMOS, the successful candidate shall produce a detailed GS schedule on a monthly basis. With respect to AIV tasks, the successful candidate shall maintain the list of issues and open anomalies with their status on a monthly basis.
