For the location in Darmstadt, Germany we are looking for an Mission Control System Integration and Verification Engineer fm at Eumetsat. Tasks The EUMETSAT TSS Technical and Scientific Support Department provides in an integrated manner scientific and engineering support to EUMETSATs programmes during the development and operations phases, and process assurance project control to the whole organisation. Within the TSS Department, the GSI Generic Systems and Infrastructure Division is in charge of engineering, maintaining and upgrading generic ground segment functions, services, infrastructure and tools in response to requirements of operational and future programmes. The Mission Control Applications and Tools Team under the GSI Division is responsible for the maintenance and evolution of all Satellite and Ground Segment MC applications and tools. This includes MC kernel, MC archive, Flight Dynamics, Mission Planning functions and the MCrelated tools. The key person shall work in the TSS Department as a member of the Mission Control Applications and Tools Team, which is part of the GSI Division. The key person will provide hisher prime support to the integration and verification testing of the Monitoring Control System, but will also support integration and verification activities at Mission Control Function level including Flight Dynamics and Mission Planning Systems. The tasks of the key person will typically include Integration Verification activities Integration of the various components of a Monitoring Control System and integration of the Monitoring Control System with the rest of systems in the Mission Control Function. These integration activities include software deployment, software configuration, adjustment of interfaces, analysis and solution to problems. Generation and updates of test plan and test procedures both for the Monitoring Control System and at Mission Control Function level. This activity covers functional verification testing and nonregression testing manual and automatic testing. Execution and coordination of software verification and nonregression testing campaigns. This activity includes running the test procedures on the target system, generation of test reports, analysis of results, troubleshooting of problems. Generation of test data and test tools that facilitate the software verification and nonregression testing Maintaining the verification status of the software requirement baseline for the Monitoring Control System Software Maintenance Activities Preventive and corrective maintenance including the investigation of anomalies in the software systems and verification testing of the fixes Technical Management Documentation generation and updates of technical documents Routine reporting preparation and production of routine reports as necessary Meeting participation participation to technical, progress and team meetings as needed and requested Software engineering methodology Analysis activities focused on a common software engineering methodology and common software engineering tools for the GSI Mission Control Applications and Tools Team Development of tools supporting these common software engineering methodologies User Support Software support software support to the endusers of the application software Training prepare and provide training covering endusage and maintenance aspects of the mission control facilities Essential requirements In addition to having a University degree in a relevant engineering discipline, the key person shall demonstrate significant knowledge and experience in the area of software maintenance and testing. The key person shall have skills and experience in software maintenance and testing with the following mandatory areas System Integration Verification Skills Extensive experience minimum 3 years in integration activities for Satellite Monitoring Control Systems. This includes software deployment, software configuration, adjustment of interfaces and troubleshooting of problems both at subsystem and system level. Extensive experience minimum 3 years in verification testing activities of Satellite Monitoring Control Systems following formal software engineering processes. This includes requirement verification, generation of test plan and test procedures, nonregression testing, generation of test data, generation of test tools, running the test procedures on the target system and generation of test reports. Extensive experience minimum 5 years in the investigation of software anomalies and verification testing of fixes, preferably in the domain of Satellite Monitoring Control Systems. Experience using tools for the automation of software testing Software Engineering Skills Experience in the maintenance of software applications following formal software engineering processes including at least configuration management, change management and anomaly reporting and tracking Experience in developing and maintaining software applications using Java under UNIX operating systems Experience in developing and maintaining software applications using C under UNIX operating systems Experience with static and dynamic software analysis tools in support to testing and troubleshooting Documentation and Configuration Management Skills Very good knowledge of MS Windows Office Suite applications and experience with documentation management systems. Tasks Support the ESA PA Safety Manager for designated projects in conducting, monitoring assessing the implementation of the PA Safety Programme. Tasks The EUMETSAT Data Centre Archive currently provides ingestion, archiving, cataloguing and retrieval services to the MTP, MSG and EPS Programmes, for the EUMETSAT user community. As a multimission facility, the Archive will be evolved to offer the same services for the MTG Programme taking into account specific MTG Programme needs. This evolution requires support to prepare the Archive to manage the high data volumes and data rates generated by the MTG satellites. In addition to this, suitable formats for delivery of the MTG data and products as well as ondemand User data access services, required e.g for calibration, training or visualisation purposes, need to be enhanced. As a member of the Data Centre Operations Team in the User Support and Climate Services Division, the general task of the Consultant will be the provision of advice and engineering support to the Data Centre Operations Manager in all aspects of work associated with the MTG Programme related to the Operation of the EUMETSAT Data Centre Archive and associated data services.
