For the location in Darmstadt, Germany we are looking for a Java EE Development, COTS integration, Access Database Maintenance Engineer fm at EUMETSAT. Tasks The Key person will work in the Enterprise Data and Application team EDA of the Information and Communication Technology Support ICT section in the General Services Division GES. The Key person will be responsible for developing and maintaining Java EE applications and integrating them in the Oracle WebCenter Content based Internet and Intranet. Additionally the Key person will be customising and maintaining Commercial of the Shelf COTS applications. The Key person will contribute to the full life cycle of the application software development, maintenance and support for all services, including web applications integrated in the Web Site and Intranet and will contribute to the full life cycle of clientserver based COTS systems e.g. Service Desk System, Library System, Organisational Chart, .... Occasionally the consultant will maintain standalone MS AccessVBA based applications. It is foreseen, that the detailed tasks of the Key person will include as a minimum Design, implement, maintain, test and deliver applications based on Java EE and partially using Oracle WebCenter Content following the full application development cycle Specify, customize, integrate and maintain clientserver based COTS systems and document the customisation and integration in the EUMETSAT environment Maintain, test and deliver applications based on Microsoft MS Access 200713 Provide second level support for existing applications, systems and services Gather and document user and system requirements and constraints Document the tasks and deliverables according to EUMETSAT working practices Perform the related quality assurance, configuration and change management activities Contribute to project planning and reporting Essential requirements In addition to having a university degree in computer science, software engineering or equivalent, the Key person shall have as a prerequisite At least 5 years professional experience in the design, implementation, integration and testing of Internet and Intranet applications using Java EE and Oracle databases At least 3 years professional experience in JSFFacelets, JSP, Servlets and JPAHibernate Knowledge of XHTML, CSS, Ajax, JavaScript, XML, XSLT Experience in maintaining Visual Basic for Applications and MS Access applications Knowledge of Windows Proven experience in formal documentation, preferably in a ISO 9000 certified project and service environment High degree of autonomy, good personal communication skills oral and writing and strong customeroriented approach to interact with EUMETSAT personnel The work requires a team player with the ability to work efficiently in a small team environment. For the location in Darmstadt, Germany we are looking for a Ground Segment System and Network Engineer fm at EUMETSAT. Tasks The Key Person will be mainly providing engineering support to the EPSSG Ground Segment Technical Manager in the frame of the EPSSG Preparatory Programme Phase B. As a member of the Ground Segment GS team, the Key person shall provide support to the EPSSG GS requirements analysis, architecture design and requirement implementation of the GS networks system as part of the EPSSG System. The duties range from the analysis, design, installation, and testing of the communications networks system. This may include support to the procurement of hardware and software, and the coordination with external service providers. The tasks will nominally cover the entire development lifecycle. In particular during the initial phase the tasks will include Support to Ground Segment requirements engineering analysis, validation, allocation and maintenance Assistance to the definition of the ground segment interfaces Definition of EPSSG GS Network requirements Support to Ground Segment design architecture definition, including analyses, tradeoffs and compilation of technical budgets Establishing the overall EPSSG GS Network Design Identification of areas of risk and contributing to any related trade off studies or prototyping activities Support to Ground segment reviews Requirements Review and Preliminary Design Review Participation in reviews and meetings at system, ground segment and facility level The Key person is expected to write and review requirement specifications and change proposals, prepare procurements, participate in technical inspections and reviews, document the communication and network architecture system design and write evaluation reports, review reports, test reports and overall status reports. Essential requirements The Key person shall have a university degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline relevant to the job profile together with the experience and capability to fulfil the assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision. The Key person shall have, as a prerequisite, a demonstrated experience in a similar function for at least three years working with high availability systems. Knowledge and experience with the following is considered mandatory Experience in preparation of system requirements and design documentation Knowledge of Cisco network and security equipment and architectures Knowledge of high availability network architectures and protocols e.g. HSRP, VSS Familiarity with network management, QoS and traffic shaping principles Familiarity with satellite communications DVB, VSAT, Point to Point links The variety of the tasks and the scope of the systems to be supported require a high degree of autonomy and good analytical skills. The Key person shall be in possession of sound management and interpersonal skills to conduct the responsibilities described above autonomously, exhibiting good oral and written communications skills, analytical capabilities, and motivation. For the location in Darmstadt, Germany we are looking for a IT Infrastructure and Network Engineer fm at EUMETSAT. Tasks The corporate Information Technology Service Support Group ICT environment supports the generic office computing needs of EUMETSAT. It does not support any of the satellite control and operations activities nor satellite product generation and distribution, which are based on a separate, dedicated infrastructure. The clients are MSWindows XP SP3 desktop and notebook systems running MSOffice 2007 professional plus additional COTS applications. The clients are fully managed using Novell Zenworks. There are about 130 networked printers and combined printercopiers, mainly from Ricoh. Central Microsoft 2008 servers provide file and print services to approx. 750 clients. A number MS Windows 20002003 servers run applications like MSSQL server supporting various database applications, a document management application Hummingbird DM, etc. Some of the MS Windows servers are virtualised in a VMware environment. They are using mostly hardware from CompaqHewlett Packard HP, Intel based. The Email and GroupWare System is based on MS Exchange with multiple Mailbox servers in a clustered configuration. The system is hosting 1.6. TByte of online email. The following gateways are implemented fax, Blackberry Enterprise, antivirus and web access. Spam filtering is implemented via a managed solution. A central, dedicated backup system based on snapshot technologies and tape libraries is in place. The IT network is a fully redundant switched one, with logically separated VLANs. The Key person will perform system administration and maintenance for the corporate ICT environment. The foreseen detailed tasks, in order of relevance and to be shared with another team member, include as a minimum Operate and Maintain the Technical rooms keep log book of activities liaise with 3rd parties e.g. AC, power monitor power consumption plan and coordinate the remov monitor physical access Maintain network cable infrastructure fibre and copper plan and coordinate the installation of new cables troubleshoot connectivity issue due to faulty wiring Provide physical network connectivity to IT equipment servers, desktops, printers etc activate and configure VLAN network sockets patch devices Operate and Maintain the KVM system add and removal of servers to the system access control to the system logs keeper Monitor the Internet access service liaise with 3rd parties and ISP for support monitor the traffic Operate and Maintain the active components of the network infrastructure check logs regularly configure VLANs add and remove network stacks monitor the network traffic control the access to the system Operate and Maintain Wireless LAN Infrastructure hot spots and portal software check regularly the log add and remove hot spots liaise with 3rd parties for support keep the system under configuration control monitor the network traffic Liaise with external parties for the operation and maintenance of the Security System Firewalls, VPN and RSA Infrastructure Provide user 2nd and 3rd level support for service requests and incidents linked to the Infrastructure and Network system cables, active components and to the Internet access service Contribute to the procurement of information technology services, systems and components by providing specifications and performing price inquiries, as well as act as interface with hardware and software suppliers regarding procurement, warranty and maintenance issues The Infrastructure and Network monitoring and management is performed via COTS systems and appliances Bluecat, RSA, F5 BigIP loadbalancer, CiscoWorks, Packeteer APC management system. Anforderungen Essential requirements The Key person shall have preferably a University degree in Information Techology or a comparable discipline or equivalent professional experience together with proven 3 years experience as IT Infrastructure and Network Engineer in a demanding and heterogeneous computing environment. The Key person is required to have as a minimum Experience in operation and maintenance of Technical rooms. Knowledge of power distribution systems and cooling systems Hand on experience in operating a Network cabling infrastructure configuration control, patching, media type etc Working knowledge of and experience in the installation, operation and maintenance of KVM systems Working knowledge of and experience in power distribution and UPS solutions Knowledge of and experience in operation and maintenance of a network infrastructure based on Cisco components Hands on experience in the operation and maintenance of Wireless LAN Infrastructure Hands on experience in the operation of network monitoring tools The variety of the tasks requires a high degree of autonomy and the close interaction with users of the IT environment requires good communication skills and a customeroriented approach with some experience coordinating IT related projects.
