Software Product Assurance Engineer

This post is classified in the A2A4 grade band of the Coordinated Organisations salary scale. LOCATION ESTEC, Noordwijk The Netherlands. DUTIES The postholder will report to the Head of the Software Product Assurance SPA Section. The Section is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of SPA expertise and standards and for providing support to projects of the European Space Agency in the area of software product assurance. Specific responsibilities and tasks will include preparing and implementing general programmatic and technical SPA requirements in relation to Agency standards and specifications establishing projectspecific programmatic and technical SPA requirements based on the ESA product assurance baseline supporting projects in the evaluation of contractors plans, technical specifications, and efforts proposed for the execution of SPA programmes supporting projects in the monitoring of the performance of the contractors SPA programmes to ensure their compliance with the SPA requirements established for the projects evaluating proposed concepts, designs, and operations for compliance with defined SPA requirements initiating and executing research and study activities in the fields of SPA requirements, techniques, methodologies and tools performing audits of contractors and their inhouse standards for compliance with ESA requirements and assessing the maturity of contractors software processes liaising with software engineering specialists on related matters contributing to dissemination of the results of the activities performed and the transfer of knowledge across the Agency. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in computer science, mathematics or software engineering and experience in at least three of the following areas software product assurance in critical realtime applications, software engineering, software configuration management, dependability assessment of software intensive systems, computeraided software development and maintenance, maturity assessment and auditing. Candidates should have good interpersonal and communication skills. They should have the ability to work autonomously, effectively and cooperatively in a diverse and international team environment and to define and implement solutions in line with team and individual objectives and project deadlines. In addition, applicants should have good analytical, organisational and reporting skills, a proactive attitude to solving problems and an interest in innovative technologies. Candidates must be eligible for security clearance by their national security administration. For behavioural competencies expected from ESA staff, please refer to the ESA Competency Framework. The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these two languages is required together with a working knowledge of the other language. You will be responsible for assuring the quality of AIT products so as to deliver complete status for products from Stevenage. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include Ensure the proper implementation of the quality assurance rules and that company industrial processes comply with quality assurance requirements and standards. Validate the product inspection plan and handle product non conformity up to the productservice delivery to the customer. Check and assess the implementation of the quality requirements defined by the QMS and quality plan. Check that industrial processes properly comply with quality assurance requirements. Define and ensure implementation of products controls. Lead the nonconformity and waiver treatment, analyse quality non conformity and request for waiver. Monitor corrective and preventive actions participate in the tailoring of standards. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience DegreeHNC or equivalent in an Engineering related discipline with background in an Aerospace Engineering environment, preferably within the Space sector. A recognised engineering apprenticeship andor equivalent academic qualification with proven AIT, Quality or Manufacturing Engineering experience within the Aerospace industry. Good understanding of Product and Quality Assurance principles. Knowledge and or experience in the use, development and delivery of Quality and Quality principles. Good understanding of Manufacturing processes. A good understanding of Spacecraft Manufacture and build philosophies Ability to understand and embrace quality improvement initiatives. We are looking for an experienced engineer willing to learn and grow within the Product or Quality Assurance environment. You will ensure that each MPF product delivered for each application project is fit for purpose and that the level of compliance to internal and external requirements is known, justified and agreed with the Satellite PA Manager. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Degree in Engineering Aerospace Engineering with a background in Mechanical, Thermal, Systems, RF, Manufacturing or Composites within the Aerospace industry. Knowledge and or experience working in the Product or Quality Assurance environment. Knowledge of processes, procedures, methods, nonconformance, root cause analysis. Knowledge of Mechanical Platforms would be appreciated. Previous exposure to several engineering disciplines. Good communication skills and willingness and ability to learn.
