Spacecraft Operations Engineers for Earth Observations mwd

We are complementing our Earth Observation Mission Operations team with additional engineering support, delivering services to ESAESOC for the EarthCARE, Aeolus, BIOMASS and FLEX Missions. Therefore, we require Spacecraft Operations Engineers SOEs with a minimum of 2 years Spacecraft subsystem knowledge Data HandlingOBSMAOCSPowerThermal and experience in activities applicable to spacecraft operations. Depending on the mission, we need several SOEs with a wide range of operational experience. As a member of our SOE team working onsite at the European Spacecraft Operations Centre ESOC, you will be directly involved in the preparation of and eventual operation of hightechnology space missions. The positions are all fulltime, permanent and starting from midJanuary 2021 through to early 2021. The team will nominally be located at ESOC in Darmstadt, Germany. ResponsibilitiesDuties The general activities, which have to be performed by the SOEs, are familiarisation with the mission, the project specific characteristics and Ground Segment Documentation. You will participate in the Analysis and Design of Satellite Operations, prepare and validate Flight Control and Contingency Procedures, as well as support a Mission Management and Mission Planning Service. Support to the Mission Control System evolution and testing and participation in the team Training Programme and performing Mission Critical Operations should be expected. In delivering our Flight Control Support Service and performing an analysis of the Spacecraft Performance, you will be part of an outstanding Flight Control Team. Who you are You hold a University degree or equivalent education in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering. You have 2 years or more of experience working in satellite operations and operations preparation. Last, but not least your experience in Earth Observation Missions and Satellite Control Centres will be a huge plus! Crucial Skills Experience in activities applicable to spacecraft operations, specifically Platform knowledge, such as Data Handling, OBSM, AOCS, Power Thermal subsystems and Payload operations. Proficiency in English, both in speech and writing is expected, as is a teamplayer mentality and at the same time displaying the ability to work independently. Familiarity with operational simulators, especially the ones based on SimSat and with satellite control systems, in particular SCOS2000, would be a distinct advantage. Experience in the generation of Flight Procedures and validation, Satellite Verification Test planning execution and participation in LEOPs will also be a strong asset. Desirable Skills Some experience dealing with external interfaces, e.g. Project, Industry, PDGS, etc. and familiarity with MOIS, or a similar procedure generation tool. Specifically for the BIOMASS mission, experience with the AS250 Platform and for the FLEX mission, with the Proteus Platform would be distinct advantage. Engineer, Spacecraft Subsystem Payload

ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The Spacecraft Engineer, Payload Subsystem will part of the team in charge of Payload Engineering, spacecraft inorbit operations and performance monitoring, as well as support to spacecraft planning, design and procurement for the GEO andor MEO Fleet. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES KEY RESULTS AREAS Monitor health status and provide oncall support for satellites in operation, including recovery and followup of eventual spacecraft offlimit conditions, anomalies and service interruptions Ensure Customer satisfaction in line with SLA terms and maximize satellite fleet availability and longevity Support procedure development of payload mission of the current and upcoming satellites. Ensure lessons learned are applied. Develop and maintain new integrated payload applications and tools required for performance monitoring, operation automation, resource optimization and constellation performance Act as Payload expert for other people in SES Group and to satellite users pertaining to satellite performance. Support endtoend design solutions. Requires a thorough understanding of endtoend communications link budgets and infrastructure Support and prepare for spacecraft anomalies and contingency operations, including new operational solutions, for contingency operations at spacecraft and fleet level Support Payload mission, operations and phasing of the MEO satellites into constellation. Support Payload IOT, transition and phasing for Start of Service. Support the design and procurement of new satellites, for spacecraft design reviews, integration, ground and inorbit testing. Develop training material and provide technical training to internal Customers COMPETENCIES Have a thorough understanding of the satellite payload subsystems, including the management all the equipment on board of the spacecraft that is required for proper transmission of the customer signal Have strong analytical and problemsolving skills Have strong computer software skills. Intermediate or advance in analytical programming languages Python, visual Basic andor Matlab and or Web Dev or any Web Development programming languages are a plus. Engineer, Spacecraft Subsystem ADCS Propulsion

Role description summary The ADCS Propulsion team are responsible for the satellite attitude control, data handling and propulsion subsystems across the SES fleet of GEO and MEO satellites. In this role, you will become part of an EU and US based team that provides engineering support to the satellite operations control centers, implements all required development for safe satellite in orbit operations, ensures readiness for and smooth execution of future satellite missions, as well as provides engineering support to the SES satellite procurement field offices situated at the satellite manufacturers. Your Responsibilities Provide attitude dynamics, control, propulsion and data handling expertise to nominal and contingency operations of the satellite fleet, including 247 oncall support Monitor the onorbit ADCS, DHE and Propulsion subsystems to identify degraded performance, anticipate scenarios and take appropriate action. You will develop and maintain tools for evaluating and trending health to maximize satellite safety, availability and longevity Provide support to new satellite construction programs, orbit raising operations, and development of the ground products required for satellite operations Provide satellite engineering expertise to internal and external customers in relation to the responsibilities of the section. Work closely with external satellite manufacturers Contribute to a continuous effort to more effectively and efficiently manage the satellite in orbit operations, including process, procedures, monitoring, and data analysis improvements Make use of machine learning and big data analytics to further automate execution of operations, identify out of family performance and diagnose anomalies Your Profile A Bachelors Degree, or higher, in Space Engineering, with a specialization which includes dynamics and control system theory and application. Additional courses or knowledge in Computer or Data Science are beneficial. Computer software skills with proficiency with MATLAB andor Python programming language. 1 to 3 years applicable professional experience in satellite engineering andor operations are desired, but not mandatory. Recent Graduate applications welcome. A willingness to work and build presence within a team that includes remote management and team members situated at multiple SES sites. Requires a strong sense of initiative and a selfstarter attitude. Commitment to deadlines and willingness to meet the needs of a 24x7 oncall environment, which can require out of hours support. Spacecraft Operations Engineer Geostationary Satellite Systems

We have an immediate vacancy for an experienced Spacecraft Operations Engineer join our team in Germany. The responsibilities of the service include the routine and special operations of operational METEOSAT spacecraft, continuous monitoring of spacecraft performance and the operations preparation for the next generation of geostationary spacecraft, MTG. In addition to a relevant university degree, team members are expected to have expertise across one or more subsystems payload, TCS, EPS, TTC, DHS, AOCS, UPS and to work seamlessly together with the rest of the team to ensure a level of competence is always available. Experience of Spacecraft Operations or Spacecraft Operations Preparation, preferably for a Geostationary Earth Orbit GEO mission would be considered advantageous. With experience of the full life cycle of spacecraft flight procedures, you will have carried out procedure creation, validation and simulation. Senior candidates will have worked on SVTs, anomaly investigations and have a good understanding of spacecraft operations at system level. Programming skills and experience with the SCOS2000 mission control system will also be advantageous.
