DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 300 PM MDT (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Depression Norbert was located near latitude 13.1 North, longitude 106.1 West. The depression is stationary and little motion is expected through tonight. A slow west-northwest to northwest motion is expected Friday through Saturday. The system is then forecast to meander again later this weekend. Maximum sustained winds are near 30 mph (45 km/h) with higher gusts. Little change in strength is forecast during the next few days. 000 ABNT20 KNHC 081748 TWOAT Tropical Weather Outlook NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 200 PM EDT Thu Oct 8 2020 For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico: The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Hurricane Delta, located over the south-central Gulf of Mexico. A vigorous tropical wave located a few hundred miles south of the Cabo Verde Islands is producing a large area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms, along with tropical-storm-force wind gusts. This disturbance is expected to move generally westward at about 15 mph over the tropical Atlantic for the next several days. Environmental conditions could become more conducive for some gradual development to occur by early next week when the system is located well east of the Lesser Antilles. 000 ABPZ20 KNHC 081745 TWOEP Tropical Weather Outlook NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 1100 AM PDT Thu Oct 8 2020 For the eastern North Pacific...east of 140 degrees west longitude: The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Tropical Depression Norbert, located several hundred miles south-southwest of Manzanillo, Mexico. Showers and thunderstorms associated with a broad area of low pressure located more than 1000 miles southwest of the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula have changed little in organization today. However, environmental conditions appear conducive for further development, and a tropical depression is likely to form during the next few days while the low drifts northwestward through this evening, and then turns westward by Friday. * Formation chance through 48 hours...medium...60 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...high...70 percent. Another area of low pressure centered about 700 miles southwest of the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Development, if any, will be slow to occur over the next couple of days.
