Spacecraft Operations Analyst Copernicus Sentinel1, Sentinel2 mf Ref.Nr. 158548.2 The Mission The Sentinel1 and Sentinel2 missions are part of Europes Copernicus Earth observation space program. The first in the series, Sentinel1, carries an advanced radar instrument to provide an allweather, dayandnight supply of imagery of Earths surface. The first of two spacecraft was launched in 2014. The second, Sentinel2, is a polarorbiting, multispectral highresolution imaging mission for land monitoring to provide, for example, imagery of vegetation, soil and water cover, inland waterways and coastal areas. Sentinel2 will also deliver information for emergency services. Sentine1 and Sentinel2 spacecraft will be operated from ESOC, in Darmstadt, Germany. The Challenge We are looking for a qualified Spacecraft Operations Analysts SOE to be part of the flight control teams supporting Sentinel1 and Sentinel2 spacecraft operations engineering services. The tasks to be performed are those typical for a spacecraft operations analyst, with specific responsibilities for Support to the Sentinels missions as a member of the Flight Control Teams FCT during the operational phases, including special operations i.e. LEOP, Commissioning, deorbiting. Participation to testing campaigns SVT, inflight tests of the above mentioned missions. Implementation and maintenance of tools needed to manipulate the SCOS2000 Missions Control System databases, to create synthetic parameters and to support the data analysis tasks, as required e.g. MSEXCEL, MSACCESS, Visual Basic, SCOS2000 Operational Language Maintenance of spacecraft operational databases, related tools, procedures and documentation under strict configuration control. Organisation, training and operational readiness check of the spacecraft controllers assigned to the mission, in cooperation with the other Sentinels Analysts. Collection of information data regarding the performance of the mission and provision of inputs for mission reports. Provision of spacecraft control support in case of special operations where the Spacecraft Controller assigned to the mission is not in a position to cover the needs this task is expected to be necessary for only very limited periods of time Support the generation of operational reports based on inputs received from other FCT members Telemetry data consolidation and archiving Support the FCT in the configuration, setup and operation of the Sentinels NDIU CORTEX and Lite. Support the FCT in the configuration, setup and operation of the Sentinels MUST servers. Routine Mission plan generation supportchecking, as required As an analyst you will be required to familiarise yourself with the Sentinels missions and in particular with the procedures and tools that are needed to perform the routine spacecraft control operations. You will take part in test campaigns and simulations, and if necessary arrange for the participation of the spacecraft controllers. You will conduct regular operational readiness training and simulations with controllers proficiency training. The tasks to be performed require considerable initiative, flexibility and independence in executing the assigned tasks. These are full time positions, located at ESOC in Darmstadt, Germany, and starting in the second half of 2015. Working time is normal office hours. Your Qualifications This position requires a person with University degree or similar in engineering, physics or related subject. The Challenge We are looking Spacecraft Controllers to be part of the flight control teams supporting Sentinel1 and Sentinel2 spacecraft operations. The tasks to be performed are those typical for a spacecraft controller, with the following specific responsibilities To operate all or part of the mission system, which may incorporate parts of the ground segment as well as the space segment, as specified for each mission. In preparatory phases or special operations LEOP, deorbiting the Spacon will be required to assist in configuring and testing the operational system to support the operations. The Spacon may be required to develop methods or tools to assist in the execution of the operations, for which heshe is required to become familiar with the mission and the control facilities at his disposal. The Spacon will take part in simulations and prelaunch test campaigns, and in postlaunch refresher training and simulation. During the operational phase, the Spacon will Monitor and control all operational progress, in accordance with the scheduled operations plan, ensuring that safety criteria are respected and that all operations are conducted in accordance with the established procedures Perform specific operations relating to individual missions, as defined in the operations plans, or as instructed by the responsible SOM, SOE or Analyst Immediately inform the responsible personnel when an anomaly is detected, in accordance with the established procedures Take corrective action as necessary, applying the contingency emergency procedures approved for the mission Coordinate with the responsible personnel for any scheduling required Prepare operations reports as requested Assist in the production of printouts, graphs and plots for offline evaluation and analysis Prepare and complete all necessary forms for the daily operations routine. During the operational phase of a mission, the Spacon will be expected to follow regular training and simulations for the inorbit spacecraft. This covers training to keep staff proficient, and training on new operational procedures. Training will be given by a Spacecraft Analyst and Operations Engineer. Regular use of a spacecraft simulator expected. These are full time positions, located at ESOC in Darmstadt, Germany, and starting in the second half of 2015. Working time is normal office hours. Your Qualifications This position requires a good background in a scientific or technical discipline, to the level equivalent to Senior Technician. Experience with using computer systems is required, and experience in data communication andor ground station systems is an advantage. Experience operating spacecraft or related ground systems is highly desirable. You shall be able to demonstrate an orderly, reliable and disciplined approach to the execution of operations and be capable of working calmly and correctly under stress. Flight Dynamics System Support Copernicus mf The Mission The main mission of the Sentinel3 satellites is to measure seasurface topography, sea and landsurface temperature and ocean and landsurface colour. The first satellite is scheduled for launch into a sun synchronous orbit in late 2015, with a second planned for 18 months later. The Challenge This is a full time position, at the site of our customer, the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites EUMETSAT, located in Darmstadt, Germany. Work is provisionally scheduled to start in May 2015. The successful candidate will support evolution and maintenance of the EUMETSAT Copernicus Sentinel3 flight dynamics system. Sample tasks include Maintenance and Evolution Activities Reengineering Analysis of porting requirements. Tradeoff studies of various technologies. Solution design. Procurement monitoring. Verification testing Evolutions and changes Generationanalysis of user and maintenancedriven software requirements. Software design. Procurement monitoring. Verification testing Preventive and corrective maintenance Investigation and correction of software anomalies. Associated verification testing Maintenance test procedures generation and update of maintenance test procedures at software facility level and at system level Support and development of the verification infrastructure Development andor procurement of scripts tools for installation checks, nonregression, functional and performance testing.
