Karl is moving toward the west near 13 mph (20 km/h). A westward to west-northwestward motion with some increase in forward speed is expected during the next couple of days. Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. Karl is forecast to begin strengthening later tonight or on Monday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 175 miles (280 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1006 mb (29.71 inches).
